Our Story

Founded in 1998, Sussex Protection Service (SPS) has been providing high-quality traffic control and safety solutions for over 20 years.  With our rich history in the Delmarva region, SPS has expanded from utility and emergency safety support to servicing anything from government contracts, events, construction, and everything in-between.  If traffic control is needed, we are there to provide a professional, and safe environment from setup to completion.

 

With two offices conveniently located in Newark and Seaford, Delaware, SPS provides 24-hour service keeping you safe on our ever-growing highways and byways.  Providing service across Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Virginia, SPS is your full-service traffic safety solution.  Whether your job requires a Traffic Control Manager to plan, setup, and oversee the project, or you are looking for a simple flagging operation; we have the equipment and personnel to handle any job, big or small. 

 

Sussex Protection provides service exceeding industry standards to ensure your projects meet all state and local regulations and you are able to work effectively. 

 

We have all the equipment available you will need for proper traffic control, including but not limited to: signs, stands, cones, barricades, drums, message boards, light towers, arrow boards, and truck mounted attenuators, for rent or purchase.  Service includes anything from initial planning, detour routing, setup, on-site management, or flagging services.

 

A proud member and sponsor of local organizations within our industry and community, our affiliations include membership with American Traffic Safety Services Association (ATSSA), and Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC).  We are also proud to support the Delaware State Troopers Association.

Greg Rafail
Member-Partner
A co-founder of Sussex Protection Service, LLC in 1998, Mr. Rafail is responsible for the supervision and coordination of all SPS staff. Other responsibilities include all aspects of client contracting (manpower, equipment, and resource planning). He is a graduate from University of Delaware where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance.
Kevin Evans
Member-Partner
A co-founder of Sussex Protection Service, LLC in 1998, Mr. Evans continues to represent the company at meetings and local events. Along with Greg, Kevin saw a need for this specialized service and they have continued to expand their market over the years.
Mike Watson
Traffic Control Safety Specialist

As a traffic control safety specialist, he reviews and executes temporary traffic control plans to declare work zones are properly installed and maintained along with coordinating and communicating with customers to ensure the safety of all workers. Provides on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring.

Rebecca Rafail
Office Manager
A graduate from Wilmington University with a  Bachelor of Science degree, Ms. Rafail works closely with the Accounts and Operations Managers to ensure proper billing records. Duties include long and short term planning, advertising, and new market development activities.
Eddie Smith                                           Traffic Safety and Control Officer
As a traffic safety and control officer, he is responsible for ensuring the smooth and safe movement of traffic management on planned roadwork, large events, or construction projects. Undertaking continuous improvement by monitoring work zones and making changes accordingly.
Victor Taylor
Operation Manager-New Castle Region
As a operation manager, he provides leadership and implementation of company values, vision, and mission. Complies safety compliance in accordance with company, local, state, and federal regulations. He is responsible for the managing day to day operations and new hire orientation, employee relations, and other administrative tasks for the New Castle Region office.
Eddie Cintron
Operation Manager- Bay Region
As a operation manager, he is responsible for overseeing the field operational performance within a given territory. He monitors, manages, and improves the performance with our field staff.  Coordinates and communicates with customers in the Bay Region.
Jason Sakowski
Bay Region Supervisor
As a supervisor, he brings an understanding of the most modern traffic control techniques and safety standards. He provides a direct conduit to our customers with attention to scheduling and quality control. He facilitates new hire onboarding and training.
Vincent Saunders-Patterson
New Castle Region Supervisor
As a supervisor, he implements all company policies and procedures. He conducts daily safety inspections on traffic control services, while ensuring customer needs are being met at the highest level of satisfaction.
Danniel Heaps Jr
New Castle Region Supervisor
As a supervisor, he brings an understanding of the most modern traffic control techniques and safety standards. He provides a direct conduit to our customers with attention to scheduling and quality control. 
Blake Mayes
Safety Manager
As a safety manager, he executes safety functions that comply to company programs, by implementing with federal and state regulations. He facilitates new hire onboarding through job training which emphasizes development of proficiency in the field.
Nicholas Harris
New Castle Region Supervisor
As a supervisor, he brings an understanding of the most modern traffic control techniques and safety standards. He provides a direct conduit to our customers with attention to scheduling and quality control.
